Make-A-Wish child meets Dog the Bounty Hunter in Hawaii

 

JUST recently, the Make-A-Wish Foundation granted its 165th wish to 15-year-old Jokin, whose wish was to go to Hawaii. 

When the foundation asked Jokin what he wanted to do while in Hawaii, he said he wanted to visit with relatives and hopefully meet Dog the Bounty Hunter. 

Through the foundation’s partnerships with Continental Airlines and the Hawaii chapter of the Make-A-Wish Foundation, Jokin and his parents were off to Hawaii for a week full of activities and surprises. 

Before Jokin boarded his flight, he asked if he would be able to meet with Dog. 

Due to the nature of Dog’s business, the foundation couldn’t promise anything.

Then while the family was in Hawaii, the foundation received a telephone call from none other than Dog the Bounty Hunter himself.  Dog had heard that there was someone in Hawaii who wanted to meet him and he mentioned that he will be arriving back in Hawaii and hoped to meet with Jokin.

Coordination began, and Jokin, along with his parents, aunt and uncle, spent the afternoon at Da Kine Bail Bonds where Jokin got to talk one-on-one with his idol. 

This is a true testament of Dog’s nice and caring nature because he went out of his way to contact the Guam office and make some time for Jokin.   

The Make-A-Wish Foundation grants the wishes of children between the ages of 2½ to 18 years of age who have been diagnosed with a life-threatening medical condition.

Since the incident, Duane Chapman has worked closely with conservative black organizations such as BOND and CORE to reach out to the black community. The following is Rev. Peterson’s statement about this developing story:

“Congratulations to Duane Chapman and his family. Duane is not a racist. We are happy to learn that A&E is planning to resume production of ‘Dog The Bounty Hunter,’ which should have never been suspended. We asked his fans to take action and they called, e-mailed and stood up for him in droves to let the network know they were displeased with the decision. Since the suspension of his show, Duane and his wife Beth have reached out and generously given their time and financial support to help inner city kids. Over Christmas, the Chapmans hosted two successful charity toy giveaway events. They also donated copies of Duane’s book ‘You Can Run But You Can’t Hide’ with all the proceeds going to charity.
“We are especially pleased that Duane sought out BOND to advise him and offer guidance. There is no doubt that the Chapmans’ situation was improved by his refusal to bow and scrape to the usual race hustlers. Duane’s fans are eagerly awaiting his return. Congratulations to A&E for making the right decision.”
